A Night of Generosity and Impact

On June 28, James Killam hosted an extraordinary Century Tasting and dinner at his home in support of Dr. Y.Z. Wang’s research. Guests were treated to a rare and memorable tasting experience, featuring wines from every decade of the past century, paired with seasonal, organic dishes crafted by acclaimed chef and Top Chef Canada winner, Paul Moran.

Dr. Wang’s pioneering research on tumor dormancy—an area that remains both scientifically complex and underfunded—is advancing rapidly through the use of his unique patient-derived xenograft (PDX) dormancy models. His team has already identified dormancy-capable cells and promising molecular targets, and is now investigating which are the most critical in regulating tumour dormancy and preventing relapse from the dormant state.

The event raised $150,000, providing essential support for this innovative research that has the potential to transform how we understand, detect, and treat cancer.

We are deeply grateful to James and his guests for their generosity, vision, and inspiring commitment to our mission: Toward a cancer-fear-free world.
